Finalist for Best Innovation at the National Entrepreneur Awards
The Entrepreneurs Circle has named The Scottish Shutter Company a finalist for Best Innovation at its 14th National Entrepreneur Awards. The recognition is for SSC Brain, the platform the company built in house and now uses to help run the business every day. It began on 30 November 2022, the day ChatGPT launched, when founder David Browne asked it what it knew about the company. It knew nothing. Having run the firm's own search advertising since 2011, he could see how customers find a business starting to change, and he could see there is no way to buy a recommendation from an AI. A company has to be understood well enough to be named. Teaching a machine the hardest part of the trade, pricing made to measure shading correctly, took twenty seven months. The platform has worked alongside the team every working day since February 2025, and it designed and built this website. None of it was built to sell. It was built because a small Scottish company needed it, and other businesses have since asked for the same. The winners are announced live on stage at the National Entrepreneurs Convention in Birmingham on 7 September 2026.
