External shading is the most effective way to control heat
Internal blinds can only manage heat and glare once it has already passed through the glass and entered your room. By that point, the greenhouse effect has already taken hold and your room is warming up regardless of what you do inside.
External screens intercept solar energy before it reaches your glazing, rejecting up to 90% of incoming heat and up to 99% of UV damage. The result is a cooler, more comfortable room without the need for air conditioning. Your view is maintained through the screen fabric, which is designed to reduce glare while preserving your outlook.
We supply and install the Luxaflex RS Smart range and Phantom retractable screens. Every motorised product comes with Somfy IO technology as standard, connecting to your smart home system for automatic operation.

The latest technology in external solar control. Four sizes covering openings from standard windows to large commercial facades. All Somfy IO motorised as standard.
The guide prices below include VAT and are based on a single screen covering a 2m wide by 2m drop opening in a standard fabric and colour. Installation is quoted separately. Larger screens, sensors and special finishes are extra. Every screen is measured and priced to your exact opening after a free survey.

Motorised retractable screens designed for large openings such as bifold doors, covered terraces, and outdoor entertainment areas. Available with insect mesh for midge protection, which is essential in Scotland from late spring through summer. Wind and sun sensors automate operation.

Outdoor Living
Turn an open gazebo into a sheltered room
A traditional timber gazebo is usually open on three or four sides. That is wonderful on a still summer evening and a good deal less so when the wind gets up or the low sun is in your eyes. It is one of the questions we are asked most often: can the open sides be closed down to make the space more usable?
External screens are an ideal answer. Fitted to the open sides of a gazebo, they let you close the structure in whenever you choose. Lower them to take the edge off the wind, cut the glare of the evening sun and add privacy, then raise them again to open the space right back up. Because every screen is motorised, you adjust the shelter to suit the weather without leaving your seat.
For midge protection through the Scottish summer, our Phantom retractable screens are available with an insect mesh, so you can sit out in the evening without being driven indoors. We will advise on the right system for your structure when we survey.
